Metaphone v.2.0 Beta 2 FWS 115 k 24 Nov 1999 By Tom White. Metaphone is a phonetic hash algorithm. It uses known pronunciation methods of English to generate a hash code that is "similar" to the original word. Comparing the hash of two words will tell you if they are pronounced similarly. This is usually used to find misspellings in a hand-entered database and works best for comparing names. This was originally conceived as a DLL but is also available as a Delphi component and a unit that can be imported into your code.
